Yes, but look at the quality and richness of the site. In order to have those types of .PNG images, it is going to create larger files. And, it’s not really that long. Once the site is cached in, it goes just fine. I’ve seen plenty of other rich sites like this on this gallery that actually take longer to load. In this case, looks like the importance was on a high quality site, not the smallest compressed files to make the oober impatient happy.
Way too slow for dial-up or even the slower broadband connections, big flaw. But the design is v nice, pity it marginilises so many users.
Surely better image optimisation could have been used, theres no need for half meg images.
This site is reallllly well done. Loads perfectly fine and acceptable for me. It is WAY more rich than many other comparable sites on this gallery. Text content loads in blazingly fast, so quit griping about the amazing photo experience load in. Well done.
Hmmmm … I looked at some of those larger images on the left, and they are PNG files. Unfortunately, you can’t “compress” PNG files and have them float anywhere like they have done here. Given that, they didn’t crap out on an awesome design for dial-up users. I’m on average speed broadband, and have no problems with load times on this site. Glad to see they didn’t sacrifice the design for the “now” and instead prepared for the future. With a niche site like this, you can get out of the box with trying to impress all those IE 6.0 at home users.
Thanks for all the props and the inclusion on here. Not really sure what everyone means about slow load times. Feel free to contact us directly about your situation.

This site is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Amazing high quality design.
Designers need to find a solution for presenting high quality designs with exceptable loading speeds
This site has an acceptable load speed. We are not in the dial-up days anymore.
