The top-banner + menu idea was fine for the index page, however, the moment they turned it into a template, the banner became a limiter - so the general message per page that they wanted to get across was drowned out by the banner on each page, and the choice of colors.
I wanted to leave after 2 pages. Stuck with it to check out the rest of the site to make sure my review wasn’t incomplete.
Don’t make fun of the background image - that’s the reason why it made it on this gallery.

Thanks for the feedback,
The issue with the banner as part of the main template wasn’t something which was identified as a problem in our review with the client. Whilst it is nice to develop number of templates for a website, as any agency knows, budget and timescale can often interfere with your aspirations for a site. We didn’t feel the usability of the site wasn’t hindered by using a single template, we will however re-evaluate if similar feedback continues.
And yes, a giant background-image - I think that we’re in a position now, with huge bandwidth availability, and super fast download speeds, that we can afford such ‘indulgences’.
@El Roboto - I am sorry I do not agree with that point of view. I am on a terrifically fast connection and the load time frankly frustrates me.
But again opinions are like assholes. everyones got one.
Great job overall though

I must agree I still get bugged by load times too :)
Using a large bgd like this isn’t something we do often. With the grungy style of the brand we’ve created for this event I thought it was an important element to get right even at this expense.
