My thought is that this site is included not for the design of the front page as much as the design of the web app itself, which I have heard is absolutely incredible. Apparently it’s one of the most advanced looking web apps so far.

Ya, I agree with Pat 100%. The front page is very boring but the web app itself is stunning from a design and development standpoint. Very advanced and very well done!
