Well i’m not against the reflection but that should at least be a transparant image if you’re using a pattern background image… it some browsers it doesn’t line up and just looks messy, transparancy would solve that straight away.
Get rid of the reflection and the volume just went to 11.
The “reflection” element should be very subtle, and this one is too heavy and distracts the eyeballs away from the content.
I really dig the layout though – very, very clean and right on mark. The only criticism there is the footer text is rather big. Unless it’s truly important, shrink it down a tad.
I agree this site should have made the cut. But to try and be constructive here is what I have to say.
Indeed the header graphic with the reflection doesn’t look that good. I am not against reflections at all, but use them where it is suitable. To suddenly have one portion of a website with a reflection and nothing else doesn’t fit the overal design, nothing even looks shiny on this website so why have it, just seems like a you liked an effect on another site and decided yep throw that on.
Everything seems very very boxy, with nothing overly creative. Every page all the content is just enclosed in a box, unless this was the brief I think you didn’t really supply an overal creative site.
What is with the footer?? that is massive as already pointed out. I fail to believe you need to have design by…and copyright…. as large as your main headings!
Not to sound completely horrible I will say the images on the site are quiet nice.

Really one of the best web designs?
I agree. It’s good, but it looks like something that just came right out of Photoshop and the Web 2.0 bandwagon.
The blue gradient is just, well, yuck…
Plus that header is pure Web 2.0 crap from like 4 years ago.
I’m not a pro, but even I know what’s in and what’s out.
Reflection technique = instant unsubscribe.

wow. thats just horrible.
I cant understand why this site is on “BEST web gallery”
Maybe the gallery is friends with the designer? I agree with everyone – this is rubbish.

Oh, and I love how the gallery looks like polaroids!
Long live polaroid!
I like it overall aside from the over done glossed logo.
