God. More tired gloss and web 2.0 smashing-magazine plastic icons.
We’ve been seeing this style since 2006. Aren’t we all tired of this approach?
Hush your mouth.
I’m enjoying the use of Museo (if I’m not mistaken).
dudeydudedude – The icon is for a Mac app. Apple has guidelines for how icons look in the dock (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/userexperience/Conceptual/AppleHIGuidelines/XHIGIcons/chapter_15_section_7.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/20000967-TPXREF106). I realize and appreciate your preference for minimalism in design. There is talk about Apple introducing a new appearance theme and moving on from Aqua, which may pave the way for a more “matte” look. Hopefully that will finally make you happy.
This site was designed by John Ashenden, who also designed http://www.grooveshark.com. Check out his work at http://www.johnwithanh.com.
Gloss isn’t needed to show off the typography.
Dave, your love for gloss leads me to believe that you must be a regular visitor on Smashing Magazine.
@dude: you should write a book on how websites MUST look like. I bet you will sell millions of copies (with 90% of it bought by your mommy)
But overall, I don’t think this site looks that great either. But it’s not overly glossy as one person here exaggerated.
It is a decent idea. watches
