    I like this. Perfect example of how your site does not need to look like Apple when its selling Apple products.

    DDD don’t pretend… its unique for its market, and their UI design is hot.

    I beg to differ. This site uses several key Apple design queues… making it instantly associated with Apple’s products.

    DDD is not the bottom line. Just because he’s treated this as his own personal bellowing platform doesn’t mean we have to defend our comments from him striking them down. Sheesh.

    This site is mediocre. I think the gigantic super-glossy reflective icons give it that Apple feel [not a bad thing, but definitely overdone]. Also, QuickTime vs Flash?

    The UI for the app, however, is pretty solid. I can just see someone placing their $200 iPhone on the ground and standing on it so that the WeightBot can do its thing……..

    Side note – comments that contain absolutely nothing about the website in discussion are absolutely pointless [see above].

    Nice and sexy.

    Why Quicktime? Fail.

    @David: I agree, this site is unique in its space. I think it’s a great reflection of the Tapbots brand.

    @Foobar: Apple does not have a monopoly on gradients, glossy icons and reflections. I’d go so far as to say they aren’t the first to use any of these techniques. They just did them very well.

    @JeremyB: I agree. I even extended an invite to DDD to email me personally, a friendly gesture I felt, as I was interested to talk to him about design and other related topics. He has yet to accept the offer.

    @Jason: I’d like to hear your comments on why it’s “mediocre.” Using quicktime vs. flash is a smart move for this company, as I can view their site on an iPhone, rather than just seeing ugly “no flash” graphics. Also, Apple itself has made it pretty clear that their preference for video is Quicktime over flash, and I happen to agree.

    Only one commenter so far has posted their website. It’s a shame this site has become a haven for anonymous trash-talk instead of relevant, helpful discussion.

    @Foobar – You cant be serious. Its black, it has a matte finish. Their product pages are laid out completely differently to any Apple product. Their colours are completely different, their list styles are different. Sure we can associate with Apple but that is because its an iPhone. Try imagine a Nokia there…

    @JeremyB #3 – I am not defending myself against DDD. More often than not we tend to agree, I was just pulling DDD’s leg on this one.

    @Pat – I agree, I have posted my sites on BWG for every comment. I am not scared of my portfolio being torn apart because of my critique :P

    Wow. The Apple witch hunt has now crossed the line into completely ridiculous territory.

    You got to be kidding me. This is an Apple rip?

    So I guess they should only post grunge sites or.. yah just grunge sites, is they don’t want these type of comments.

    I think the site is designed nicely. Shows off the app UI. Has a great mood to it. Nice use of lighting.

    Hey Pat,
    I was just in the middle on this one. There is nothing in particular that I like or dislike about it. I hope I’m entitled to feel this way the same as you are to liking it. I will say, the dark theme does looks nice.

    Also, I see your point about the QT now. I don’t have an iPhone myself but it does make absolute sense that this particular page be viewable on one. Again, you prefer QT, I prefer flash, but I’ll go with you on this one.

    Apple apps can’t have Apple site influences, no you only associate it with Apple because it has the iPhone on it, no you’re wrong because it has gloss and a nav, but wait the background color is different, Apple aesthetic appropriate, no it’s not, something about IE6, etc etc ad nauseum

    @ Pat -You haven’t always posted your personal site.

    @jason, that’s not a problem at all. I just think critiques should have some reasoning behind them.

    @Roger, just be the first person to comment on every thread and we’ll get all of that out of the way early :)

    @Pat:
    It’s nothing personal, but one of the other reasons why I prefer to retain anonymity is due in part to my professional association with the creative firm I am part of. However, I did appreciate the gesture. One day perhaps.

    @Jeremy:
    I agree, I am definitely not the bottom line. It’s just that David and I have become somewhat familiar with each other’s opinions, and I am sure that his initial comment was a message to me, and not as a way of justifying his opinion.

    @The site (and David):
    I agree, this isn’t an Apple-rip. The elements and small details are not the same. However, it IS a very web 2.0-ish site, albeit one with a decent layout.

    However, I think one of the biggest letdowns of this site isn’t the site itself, but in fact, the logo: It just needs to be replaced completely.

    That and the odd “riveted” menu bar. It’s a little out of place, especially when pared with such a sleek product (iphone).

    @DDD – I like the matte look/finish of its image borders and the menu. Although you make a good point with the rivets… it would make more sense if they used the rivets in the image borders as well.

    I’ve any community enterprise and Bing offers Four numerous entries because of it, all of which are usually completely wrong. Just how do i produce the appropriate itemizing as well as erase others? Yahoo does not show everywhere tips about ways to do that, will tell.
