Let’s see how many sites we can post this month that copy off of 60% of 37signals.com guys! I mean seriously…

Honorable Mentions: Typography, Color Scheme plays off each other

    @Rich,
Are you serious??? This site is nothing like 37signals.com!!

Really? Ignore the colors and look at the grid, as well as the button designs and typography.

Yeah Mike! Ignore anything that’s different than 37signals and it’s exactly like 37signals!

In all seriousness though, yeah, there’s definitely some 37signals inspiration in there

Ahh come on…its just like your stereotypical layout you get with most of sites here. And 37 signals are definately not the inventors of this grid. Typo??gimme a break. It’s standard webfonts.
Both sites are either innovative or exciting. They do their job that’s it.

Everyone is acting like it’s a sin to show a little bit of your influence around here.

I think the site shows some direct influence from 37signals. Who cares? To say that because a site looks a little bit like another one isn’t a condemnation. Grow up.

Noone said it’s a condemnation, Roger. This is a Best Web Gallery, not a best-clearly-influenced-by-another-site-gallery.

I come here to see something fresh, not something that is a copy or an extremely influenced site from something else… Even if that wasn’t an arguement, I don’t like it. Period :)

There is a difference between using something because its a trend and then using something because it actually works.

It’s like saying ‘well making tires round is a big trend these days’…. its round because it works.

37signals didn’t invent this layout… they are just the most popular site using it. Does that mean that no one else is allowed to tread there? Nope.

Noone said they invented the layout, they were just the first ones to start doing those buttons and utilize the layout that you see duplicated all the time. I’m not the type of designer who designs off trends, so sorry when I come to a gallery/showcase I expect a little creativity in building onto a trend, not off it.

Your tires analogy is not even a rational thought, by the way, here’s a good one for ya:

This website is like a Jaguar, it might look cool on the outside, but inside it’s really just a Volkswagen.

I love it. I didn’t like their previous design.

I don’t see anything 37signals to it. 37 signals doesn’t use gradients and effects like they do.

Notice how I said “copy off of”, not “copy of”

please, if you’re going to post something at least have a clue what you’re talking about

Not bad. Just nothing new. Although I must say I like this one better than the old one.

I’m pretty sure those icons can be found for free from generic-design sites like Smashing Magazine though, which does detract from the overall quality of the design in my opinion.

What I’m saying Roger is that Jaguar uses Volkswagen parts. So really all you’re paying for is the name, nothing more.

Whereas your pretentious tire analogy makes no sense because tires shape could not be changed if they want to. It’s a one way street to nowhere, so please, shh with the pretentious all knowing attitude.

Also after going through the site more than the homepage, I do like some things

@dudey I do agree about the icons though… They seem generic

“Notice how I said ‘copy off of’, not ‘copy of’”

You mean the same you didn’t notice how it wasn’t me who made the “pretentious tire analogy”?

Also, I didn’t realize that an analogy that doesn’t compare a $75,000 Jaguar to a $30,000 Volkswagen is pretentious.
