Nothing about this website excites me. Nothing at all.

Interesting?
I like this design but something just doesn’t quite sit right, I know the website is meant to portray the idea of a conceptualisation sheet and I think this is where I have the difficulty, the lined paper background just conflicts with the content for me.
I think if this was simply removed, they’d have a very clear and concise site with a nice portfolio.
i quite like the paper effect, but the content doesn’t sit so well on it. a background like that deserves hand drawn/written content rather than crisp fonts and images.
I personally think there is to much going on in each portfolio item on the slider, making it look messy. The pop arty iphone screen is the only portfolio element that looks quite nice. The rest have badly cut out stock images and agree that some of these elements such as the leaves, butterflies and people could have been illustrated.
Another couple of gripes and bugs for me are the left arrow hover does not work (Might just be my machine) and the underlined sub headers look like links and possibly should be.
There are some nice elements to this site but the final execution isn’t great in my opinion.

@pallieter
that’s how it feels to me, messy! As things certainly don’t sit right.

i’m the webdesigner. indeed, we try to portray the idea of a conceptualisation sheet.
positioning elements along the a grid and a baseline was very difficult with CSS. you should try this! take a look to the css files, there is mathematics in there!
i used the ‘em’ unit for font-size & line-height, so it may remains some bugs for few browsers (best view with firefox 3.4).
i’m agree with you when you said it’s a “bit messy”. i think it lakes of consistency between the caroussel’s slides. as cchana says, its content should be drawn or written.
thanks for your comment, i’ll try to adjust art direction in the next month. and excuse my english:s
I am actually a little surprised at how many stylesheets are used on this site.
And surely if the background image was a consistent height for the lines the maths in the CSS shouldn’t be to difficult to apply accurate alignment to the front end?
One major Issue I have noticed is on Firefox 3.5.7, and that is when you hover over the homepage gallery, on the right hand side just under the right arrow, start scrolling right with your mouse scroll, you can totally break the gallery and scroll off the page to the right. It takes a little bit of effort to recreate this bug, but once you do you cannot get back to get the page aligned again.
CSS : yes, i’d rather separate css to keep control.
i have a reset css, a framework css (from 960grids)… and a general stylesheet
BUG : i had a problem with the overflow property. if you scroll right or left (using the mouse wheel click or using the mac multitouch pad) you can scroll right and left. i didn’t found how to fix it !
i asked but nobody knows :-(

Agree with Jack… Nothing excites me on this one. I do like the JS and the arrow, but once again, doesnt seem like it fits with the background…

Something that should probably be checked out.
