@Trond – the logo sits outside of 1024 x 768, the most commonly used screen resolution. Might be a conference about the future but right now, a lot of people aren’t going to be able to see it.
The logo’s not crucial and the site will clearly only attract visits from the web community (of which a high number will probably have resolutions big enough to see the logo) but still, it’s a strange decision.
IMO the quality is in the details, and I think it makes perfect sense for the logo to disappear on low resolutions. The future of web design can be anything; an idea, technology, etc.
I feel that when it comes to a brand, and maintaining a strong brand presence, the logo sometimes, if not most times, falls part of the key elements in creating this brand recognition. Whether you are new to the brand or a long-time user, the logo should at all time be visible no matter what the screen resolutions. I feel that the site has been designed consistently and well balanced and over all is very basic yet impressive. But the devil is in the detail, and the designer of this site needed to think a bit further than just the look and feel of this page. The underlying parts are also extremely important to ensure your product being experienced properly.

I still think that Google (in practice) and Jacob Nielsen (in theory) has the best points about web designs. Just call me old school, but simplicity has always been a winner.

I do really like this design, the great contrast in colours and fantastic attention to detail make everything look just right.
Not really a critique this, just unashamed jealousy and admiration! Well done Carsonified and Mike Kus. They are at the top of the game at the moment.
Really nice. Strange decision to make the logo disappear below 1280 x 1024 though.
There’s a lot of validation issues. I thought coming from Carsonified, that wouldn’t be the case.
Of course the logo disappears at lower screen resolutions. It’s called the “future of web design” after all, not the past …
