I think this is a perfect example of having a good aesthetic and killing it in practice. It feels cramped and cluttered, the copy is too small, there’s not enough breathing room, and not to mention the text in the sidebar is all one big image. This may be up to the standards set a few years ago, but not today. We have great web fonts. We have more control over our typography then ever. And this site fails to take advantage of that.
Not so sure about the coding of the large font areas.
The homepage sidebar looks nice, but having it as one big image with so much in the Alt tag, just seems like to much for one alt tag. Looks great though.
