I don’t really like this one – colours are quite harsh (for a blog that’s meant to be read); the overall art direction feels a bit dated, in fact, it reminds me of a 1st generation Playstation 1 game, and the typography is pretty awful (to put it bluntly).

It’s one of those sites that, when you see the thumbnail, you would think “what’s that?”, but upon closer inspection, you end up disappointed.

I can appreciate it, as it’s a unique solution that doesn’t feel like a clone of other sites with 3 horizontal stripes or a large background image transitioning from sky to land with jquery auto-scrollers so frequently showcased. Kudos for variety.

Agree with author… Even though it might feel ‘dated,’ it doesn’t follow the same template every other site around here uses.

    LOL@Even’s comment.

I’m well aware of “80′s cool” though, but I don’t think this one hit the mark. =)

Centering 120px or so to the right is the only thing that bothers me. I dig the unique approach though. Not my fav but definitely worth the quick look.

There’s a ton of bland, repetitive ‘shiny’ designs out there, that follow the same trends that the ones before them followed. Great to see a design that breaking away from the crowd and embracing dramatic perspective and making it work within a 2D space! Great job :)

Ya, I think the design is very nice and unique. Besides, one of his articles shows how to make a 3D floating cloud of bacon using jQuery only! Freakin’ awesome!
