Love the photography, very thought provoking intro page but as stated above the usability is awful and it all just seems a little dated, why does the whole site have to be developed in flash, no need, there’s plenty useful flash java scripts that could have created the same effect.
The website should also come with a magnifying, (how small is the copy), even at my 27 tender years, it’s difficult to read as standard.
Seriously though: How usable is a photographic calendar you would purchase at any shop to the visually impaired?
What, pray tell, would be place here as the alt text?
“A grayed out portrait of a certain celebrity”.
Not trying to mock anyone, but certainly, the point of it all was lost in the translation.
@Carl Rosekilly: Because Flash loads media faster than any other compression available. It actually makes no sense to require 90% of this site’s visitors to wait for uncompressed, hi-resolution images to load, simply because the 10% who will never see the images have to be provided alternative text descriptions.
@Everyone:
Please, while it is encouraging that we consider all viewers, keep in mind the true purpose and target market of each website. Some websites are simply meant to be viewed to be appreciated (no offense to anyone), and no amount of accessibility will ever fully capture the subtleties of what we see, especially when it concerns photography.
You missed my point you have accessibility stormtroopers running around “blindly” so I thought I would put a stop to that early on as these threads go. or get a bunch of comments like yours
Accessibility makes sense in most cases, but lets be honest in some it hinders the user experience, like trying to make a mac focused site work in ie 6.
Trying to please everyone is not always the answer.
Interesting arguments here but basically the site lacks usability to back up the nice clean design and excellent work.
It’s a shame for anyone who visits the site as it constrains their experience and they may leave with thoughts of frustration rather than thoughts regarding the work therefore missing the primary aim of the site.
That is quite possible, and if I had been the only one to comment about it, I would probably be wrong. However, I am not and I feel this shows the need for either better user testing before the site was launched or a quick overhaul to provide certain features that most users look for in web sites to navigate around.

photography is outstanding!
the interface and usability are awful.
Unfortunately let down by the lack of usability – design is ok but not exceptional.
Not my favourite post on here……..
Ditto the other comments…

btw: I missed the word ‘glass’ after magnifying in my above post
Stunning photographs. The work is really top notch and deserves a much better website.
Can go back to main photography without going into another section? Makes no sense.
The photography is amazing. The site….eh.
usability was fine site was fast…The design was spot on because I spent my time looking at great photos with out distraction.
Easy to use site unless you just “logged on for the first time”
THEY BETTER START PUTTING TEXT under BRAILLE BOOKS I CAN READ OTHERWISE I WILL SUE!!!
A site with beautiful photos and beautiful zooms. Construction simple but clean.

@Dan C
I found the site very simple to use, maybe lack of intuition is to blame.

Is a nice site and a good works. The graphic is good and for me is light to highlight the projects.
