Really great design, just a shame they couldn’t have used one of the font replacement techniques on offer.

The logo caught my attention right away. I have to say that’s my favorite part of the site. Very cool for a one page design.

My only complaint is they have hover effects over some text but they’re not links. They should style the cursor on hover to not change so you can get that hover effect without it looking like a broken link.

    Otherwise, I like it.

The logo and the tubes on the right are the only thing that caught my eye, everything else to me is irrelevant.

Show me something FRESH!! I already feel like this “labs” and “tubes” theme is already played out! Also, referring to ones professional self as a mutant, in my book, takes off points for me.

I have to agree with Rich, the labs feel is done already – we had one only recently on BWG and I’ve seen many more on the net.

I do think the theme runs well throughout the page though.

I was also put off by the hovering effects that appear to be clickable. These guys work not far from where I live so I was disappointed by the fact the clickable names didn’t go to another page with more info and instead, just appeared broken.

Hi guys, I’m the creative director at Mutant Labs. Thanks for your comments and constructive feedback, it’s really useful to identify weaknesses on the page.

We will be constantly updating the site so keep checking back!

Please feel free to get in touch with any questions / feedback.

@Ian we are sorting the mouse hover on the about-us section – It will eventually lead to individual profiles. Thanks again!

Love this design. I’m really digging the one-page layouts floating around. However it doesn’t seem to flow as well as it could.

    Good job.

I agree with Steve. Ben – Why not use Cufon or a font replacement technique, especially since the Chunk Five font explicitly permits it?

Looks nice, but wouldn’t the flask and tube simply fall out of their holders? What’s holding them in???

@JeremyB We were going to use Cufon or SIFR for the headers, however because most titles have the other font as well (marketing script) it is difficult.

    Cheers for the comments again!

friction might be holding them in? :P

@Bob I believe its that Mutant Labs magic thats holding the flask and tube in.

Great site, looking forward to further updates with it.

Great design, you guys are obviously talented illustrators!

    Critics:
-Don’t use hover effect if it’s not clickable…confusing
-Seems crammed together, try to separate sections with space or lines
