@F: I don’t think you have to follow the current design trend of the year to create good design. If a certain element looks good, who cares if it’s “out of style”?
I think instead, we should focus on the uniqueness and originality of how people use trends.
Like that color scheme a lot… and the work is great. Just not digging the pixel type, doesn’t seem to blend well into the design. Other than that, for me, it seems like the hover effects on the folio thumbs are just a tad delayed maybe .5 of a second… But maybe that’s because I have the reflexes of a puma
We don’t need to conform to the formula pal, so what if some of the styles are a few years old? You sound like a fashion designer, “SOOOOOOO LAAAAAAAAAAAAASTTTTTTTTTT YEAR” (camp tone to voice when saying this), at least they stand out better in the current trend, I’m a designer who likes to swim against the tide rather than with it, so that’s why I think this site is visually very pleasing with a great portfolio of work.
@Carl. Nothing wrong with coming up with new ideas or making something unique. But submitting a page like this that could have looked the same for 4 years. Kinda like if a website with GIF-animated buttons and pictures got onto one of these sites.

well this is a best of portfolio site, which means that not only does the site deliver the designers work in an inviting and simple way, but that the work itself is exceptional.
this is a perfect case of this, as the portfolio is exactly what a portfolio should be – simple and easy to view the designers work.
as for the work itself… well simply top of the line.

Stripes and the other textures on the site is so 2005/2006.

This site is really nice. Background and colours are so cool and have a good contrast.
