It’s okay… too bad Helvetica looks like garbage under 12px on windows

It’s not a copy fail – bad typography yes, bad copy, no.

The showcase area should be a bit smaller than it is, but I think it works with the site design – taken out of context of the rest of the design as in the screenshot, it looks far worse.

I really like the showcase, I like the attitude. It’s refreshing to see people proud of their work. Keep it up.

It’s a very uneasy mix of HUGE Inc., and the style of photography is straight out of Big Spaceship. Needs some typography attention on the large type – kerning looks a bit whack.

If you’re referring to the featured section copy Daniel, the kerning is perfect… Not sure what you’re looking at.

The large type on the scrolling showcase panels. It isn’t perfect, but whatever – doesn’t matter!

They should drop the Huge-inspired front banner style. It doesn’t match the rest of the art direction, and it “cheapens” their look.

However, didn’t anybody bother to check the readability contrast ratio?

Actually this is all irrelevant – does anyone actually know what these guys do? Their ‘works’ section gives nothing away, not even the ‘teasers’ (which can only let you ‘drag to share’… yawn).

I agree some styles reflect heavy inspiration from Big Spaceship (typography, lighting, art direction, photos) as well as Huge. To me though, what they really need is better branding… I never even really looked at the logo till now. Pretty bland… no feeling is derived from it.

They’ve obviously got inspiration from Huge, but I agree that it cheapens and dilutes their brand a bit – the site feels quite ‘up-market’ otherwise.

In firebug I ramped the font-size down to 12px, upped the contrast to #444, and the whole thing looked a million miles better. IMO the grey text looks bad.

Hi guys, just a note from the site creator here. I actually think that all of your comments are valid. We decided to put up a rough version of the site which was better than our previous one (believe me) and improve it day by day. thanks for your feedback harsh but fair….

Just throw my pennies worth in…

For me there’s an overall pleasing aesthetic to the site, it’s very clean, easy to follow, with a nice use of bold header images and font usage.

But there are some serious eligibility issues, I think a simple tweak of the body copy from grey to black could work wonders, simple but effective.

The one thing that gripes me the most is that you talk alot about how good you’re but I don’t see any visual representation of this, I appreciate that the site may be a work in progress and this is what I have a problem with, there is nothing worse than visiting a site, that has the words ‘coming soon’ which is the situation with your ‘work’ page. For me you either complete a site to it’s maximum and put it live or wait until it can be completed, no half arse attempts, it should be all or nothing and I do accept that websites will always grow and change but the foundations need to be solid.

You guys appear to know what you are doing, I’d say JUST DO IT! Sound like a a NIKE ad!

But aside from the above, nice stuff, just wanna see more of it.
