    Possibly the best site on the Internet.

    I must be getting old, this confuses the hell out of me!

    If you consider the target audience for a Nissan, this would blow them out of the water and leave them wandering over to Suzuki!

    I like it, it’s certainly not the best site on the web as stated above but it breaks current conventions and delves back into 90’s flash design.

    This is the best presentational use of SVG I have seen to date. Color me impressed.

    @Carl -

    If this goes back to 90’s flash design then users shouldn’t be familiar and not be getting confused right? Just a thought. I didn’t have any trouble navigating my way around anything.

    Don’t get me wrong guys, I do like this site, it breaks current conventions and is quite intriguing.

    But for me this is style over substance and isn’t very geared towards the market even though I assume these guys will have spent a large sum of money on market research.

    It appeals to ‘US’ because we appreciate good design.

    I definitely agree with Carl.

    They have probably improved the navigation, but the overall design has a lot in common with ’90s flash trends. The fonts, the style, the animations, the effects and the way they have put all the things together, drives me back to the ’90s.

    For being honest, I’m not quite sure about it’s attractiveness for young adults, which is Nissan’s primary target. I think that most of the people (that is not linked to web design) will be more focused to it’s attractiveness than to it’s functionality. The people and specially young adults usually likes to see complex sites, with a lot of movement, visual effects, stylish fonts, etc.

    Keep in mind this is a 100% electric car, I doubt the people who would be buying these things care about stylish fonts and visual effects. With a simple navigation and Ajax/Javascript instead of flash for functionality I think it complements perfectly.

    I think the break in communication for me was: Left nav - select “fuel” then the sub selections in the main display area actually made me forget I clicked “fuel”. I actually forgot what direction I was going that quickly due to distraction. I do appreciate the non-.swf.

    It works in IE but the animated effects are a bit slow. Otherwise awesome website, its the perfect example that effects like these don’t need to be done in flash anymore.

    Keep up the great work!
